This week had some good news for the Hungarian WMMA scene as the most successful fighter Dóra Perjés has signed to XFCi, the international division of Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC). Her debut is targeted for 13 Sept, Brazil.
XFC is a United States mixed martial arts (MMA) organization that has produced stadium fight cards in Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee, runs MMA-themed gyms and sells MMA-related merchandise. The company is also pursuing international ventures in at least 12 other countries.
We've managed to get hold of Dóra shortly after the announcement has been made.
Ellenfelem.hu (E): - First off, congrats Dóri! How long is your contract for?
Dóra Perjés (DP): - Thank you! The contract is for a tournament and if everything goes fine it will expire March 2015. If I manage to win the belt it's going to be extended for another 2 years.
E: - Do you have any information on a possible opponent?
DP: - My management was told that XFCi is in the process of signing the fighters but we expect something to arrive any moment now.
E: - How do you prepare and how does your days look like?
DP: - I'm training 2-3 times every day. Strength and conditioning in the a.m, working on my technique in the afternoons and sparring. We'll stick to this throughout the camp and make some specific adjustments once we have some information on my opponent.
E: -You spent about 2 minutes in the cage in your last two fights. Do you think if this will may present any challenge in Brazil or do you feel to be ready for more rounds?
DP: - I always prepare for the worst so I won't be surprised if I have to fight all rounds. Certainly I'll be onto finishing as soon as possible.
